Polymer-based micro thermal actuator for micromanipulation

Successful grasping of a follicle from Danio rerio (~500um) at 60 degree Celsius.

Assembling of complex microstructures by centrifugal force  US Provisional Patent, October 17 2001, 60/318,307, #9063, (Wen Jung Li, King Wai Chu Lai, and Allan Poon Hui).

Micro Power Generator
The AML vibration-based micro power converter generates 2V DC and was demonstrated to provide enough energy to dirve an IR remote control circuit and wireless transmit RF temperature signal with input amplitude of 2mm at 110Hz. Featured in IEEE Spectrum Magazine, September 2001 issue. Also published in Transducers 01' and Sensors and Actuators A: Physical.

Micro underwater robot fingers
We are currently developing ICPF microactuators for cellular manipulation.
Micro/Nano Channels
Our current focus is to fabricate micro/nano fluidic devices for DNA/cell manipulation.
