Prof. Michael Y. WANG of
Mechanical and Automation Engineering (MAE) has received the Compliant
Mechanisms Award-Theory in the ASME 31st Mechanisms and Robotics Conference held
in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, 4-7 September, 2007. The award is attributed to his
paper, “Designing Distributed Compliant Mechanisms with Characteristic
Stiffness,” co-authored with his PhD student Shikui Chen.
The 31st Mechanisms and Robotics Conference is an integral part of the 2007 ASME
International Design Engineering Technical Conferences and Computers and
Information in Engineering Conferences (2007 IDETC/CIE) held in Las Vegas,
Nevada, from September 4-7, 2007. This Conference is sponsored by the Technical
Committee on Mechanisms and Robotics, which is an integral part of the ASME
Design Engineering Division. This event is the theme of the every-year IDETC and
premier international meeting in the fields of mechanisms and robotics. The ASME
Mechanisms and Robotics Conference is the main international forum for the
exchange of technical and scientific information on the theory and practice of
mechanical systems. The conference features tutorials and workshops, keynote and
invited speakers, as well as interactive presentation sessions, in diverse areas
including kinematics, dynamics, design, computation, algorithms and software.
