Scope and topics of the Conference

	ICMNS 2002 will be held at Kunming, China, on August 11 – 14, 2002.  Kunming is the capital of Yunnan province and the largest city in southwest China.  It has a mild climate all year round and is called the "City of Eternal Spring".  Kunming is a city of picturesque landscapes. Flowers bloom in a riot of color and plants flourish continually. Its land is dotted with historical artifacts, reflecting this important city's 2,000-year history.  Its people, consists of 26 Chinese minority groups, are known for their varied and striking customs.  Marco Polo traveled through this city in the late 13th century and marveled at its people and cuisines.  Yunnan is also the home of the Shangri-La – the heaven of peace described in the Lost Horizon by James Hilton. The ICMNS is the first international conference on Micro and Nano systems held in China and our goal is to make it a very high quality technical conference and at the same time allow international participants to experience the unique and exotic cultures at Kunming.
	The ICMNS is to provide a forum for experts in Micro and Nano science and engineering to disseminate the recent advances and their views on the future perspectives of research, and provide direct cross-fertilization in these areas.  The areas of interest include, but are not limited to, micro and nano materials, fabrication, devices, manipulation; quantum computing; simulation; micro and nano systems for drug delivery, tissue engineering, sequencing, fluidics, molecular assembly; nano scale imaging, control.
